According to different driving modes of
pipeline robots, it can be roughly divided into eight types.
The first type is a mobile robot. This type of robot does not have a driving device, but only follows the fluid flow in the tube. It is a passive robot that does not require energy consumption, but its motion mode is quite limited.
The second type is wheeled robots. This type of robot is widely used in pipeline inspection work. Many commercial robots are of this type.
The third type is a crawler robot, which uses crawlers instead of wheels.
The fourth type is the abdominal wall type robot. This type of robot is close to the inner wall of the pipe through the mechanical arm that can be extended to push the robot forward.
The fifth type is a walking robot. This type of robot moves through a mechanical foot, but this type of robot requires a large number of drivers and is difficult to control.
The sixth type is a peristaltic robot. This type of robot moves through the expansion and contraction of the body like an earthworm.
The seventh type is the screw drive type, that is, the drive mechanism performs a rotary motion and advances in a spiral.
The eighth type is a snake-type robot. This type of robot has many joints and moves forward like a snake.
